But its impact on energy conservation is debatable. . . . keep reading IRS extends the time to close on a home for the First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit On July 2, 2010 President Obama signed The Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act of 2010 to extend the deadline for taxpayers to close on their home purchase in order to qualify for the First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit. The deadline to close on a qualifying home purchase is now September 30, 2010. Prior to the passage of this law, taxpayers had to close by June 30, 2010.
